ever wonder what it must feel like to jump into the deep end without knowing how to swim? welcome to my world. at 36 it’s quite a bit different than when you were a young kid with floaties on and not a care in the world. the stakes are higher and the chances of drowning a stronger reality because there is no lifeguard on duty. Maybe that’s why i am writing this blog – to have some sort of documentation of my “leap” in case i totally go off the deep end.
i wrote the beginning the day I gave notice (august 5th). but writing an entry (in the comfort of my loft with the euphoric knowledge my days were numbered) and actually starting a blog are two vastly different things. plus, as my dearest will attest, i’m not the most technically inclined.
so before i could really start this, i had to unriddle the numerous questions that were swirling around in my head about this unknown cyber universe. why do i want to start a blog? what am i blogging about? what’s the name going to be? wordpress or blogspot (this question alone caused great stress and numerous debates between 2 of my more technically saavy pals). can i just take pics with my iphone? in a word, no. so what kind of camera should i get? what should the design look like? what’s a header? no seriously, that’s how much of a novice i am.
but i was determined. so with the help of a few dear friends it’s up and running. special thanks to beth who was not only a huge inspiration but also helped make it not seem so daunting. her man and my dearest’s, awesome college pal, kevin, who knew what i wanted in a camera and helped guide me in the right direction. and finally to my fellow fro-brother, vinnie, who created the header (with my photo above) and helped with the overall design on a very strict deadline i imposed on him and myself.
speaking of the photo, here are some others i took that were in the running. what do you think? did we make the right decision?
and what is the next step exactly? let’s see… i’ll be taking pictures and sharing some hopefully inspiring images, giving recipes and tips for the home cook, commenting on current food trends, and overall exploring my passion for all things culinary.
